This week, weβre diving into one of the creepiest horror movies of the 2010sβSinister. This movie is all about atmosphere, disturbing imagery, and a villain that sticks with you long after the credits roll. Itβs a slow burn, but when it gets scary, it really gets scary.
Monsters/Villains: π€π€π€π€π€π€π€π€ (8.4)
Bughuul (aka Mr. Boogie) is straight-up nightmare fuel. Heβs barely on screen, but every time he shows up, itβs unsettling. The real horror comes from the old film reelsβthose βhome videosβ are some of the most disturbing scenes in modern horror.
Actors/Characters: π€π€π€π€π€π€π€ (7.9)
Ethan Hawke does a solid job as true-crime writer Ellison Oswalt. He makes you believe in his obsession, even when it starts to ruin his life. The supporting characters are decent, but this is Hawkeβs movie all the way.
Story: π€π€π€π€π€π€π€π€ (8.2)
The idea of a cursed box of film reels leading to something much worse is a great setup. The pacing is slow at times, but the mystery keeps you hooked. And that ending? Brutal.
Joeβs Score: π€π€π€π€π€π€π€π€ (8.5)
