HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANK MILLER

Frank Miller is responsible for some of the most iconic stories the medium has ever seen. His road to success wasn’t easy — he was rejected editor after editor before finally getting his first break at Gold Key Comics with The Twilight Zone #76. That opportunity led to work at DC and eventually Marvel, where his career truly took off.

Miller’s run on Daredevil was his big breakthrough. He began as the artist on issue #158 and later took over writing duties with issue #168. Under his vision, Daredevil went from a bi-monthly title on the brink of cancellation to one of Marvel’s best-selling books.

After Daredevil, Miller teamed up with Chris Claremont on the legendary Wolverine limited series. But the project that cemented his legacy forever arrived in 1986 with Batman: The Dark Knight Returns — a bold, futuristic take on an aging Bruce Wayne who dons the cape and cowl one last time. It was truly something special.
