HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICK CARDY!

Yesterday marked the birthday of one of the most underrated comic book artists ever — Nick Cardy. If you’ve spent any time digging through DC books from the 60s and 70s, you’ve seen his work, even if you didn’t realize it.

Cardy actually got his start way back in the 1940s working for Fiction House, doing art on titles like Fight Comics and Jungle Comics. But it was really during the 1960s that he hit his stride, becoming one of DC’s go-to cover artists.

His DC covers were next level — everything from Teen Titans to Aquaman, and later into those awesome Bronze Age horror books. His stuff had so much life and personality. You could always count on bold layouts, great expressions, and covers that told a story before you even opened the book.

He wasn’t just doing pin-ups — his art pulled you in. Whether it was a group of heroes mid-action or a creepy horror scene, Cardy made it feel real.

Here at RoboPicto, we’ve always been huge fans of Nick Cardy’s work. The guy doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how much he helped define the look of DC in that era.

So here’s to Nick Cardy — a true legend whose art still hits just as hard today.
