MAJOR PICTO SPOTLIGHT

Today we’ve got a true fun classic that later became a Brendan Fraser movie favorite!

Straight from the great 1970s cartoon, this one comes to us from Gold Key:

🦍 George of the Jungle #1

George of the Jungle #1 β€” VG/F (5.0)
$65.00

George of the Jungle #1 β€” VG/F 5.0
February 1969 β€’ Gold Key (Western Publishing) β€’ TV adaptation β€’ Tom Slick & Super Chicken

A bright, ridiculous slice of late-’60s cartoon chaos β€” this premiere issue adapts George of the Jungle straight from the Jay Ward TV series, with all the slapstick, jungle gags, and off-beat humor intact. The iconic cover alone says everything: George, an elephant, Ape, and Ursula in full Technicolor silliness.

Inside you get a full sampler platter of the Jay Ward universe: multiple George shorts, plus full stories starring Super Chicken and Tom Slick, including β€œMonster Rally” in the Transylvanian Alps. It’s a great one-shot time capsule of post-Saturday-morning TV culture in comic form.

Maj. Picto’s Grading Notes (5.0 / VG–F)
Light surface wear and shallow corner blunting along the cover edges, with mild spine wear and a small stress line visible near the top. Back cover shows light toning with faint handling marks and no writing. Interior pages are off-white to cream, clean and complete, firmly attached at the staples. Solid mid-grade copy with bright cover color and nice eye appeal.
