The lead story, “Magneto Walks the Earth!” (20 pages), was written by Roy Thomas with pencils by John Buscema and inks by George Tuska. The story features the Avengers confronting Magneto after the mutant villain returns to Earth and begins reforming the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. The Avengers lineup in this issue includes Captain America, Goliath (Hank Pym), Hawkeye, Hercules, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and the Wasp. Captain America departs the team during the story. Supporting appearances include Toad and the introduction of Dane Whitman, who later becomes the Black Knight.
Additional content includes Marvel house advertisements, a Bullpen Bulletins page with Stan’s Soapbox and the Mighty Marvel Checklist, and a two-page “Avengers Assemble!” letters page.
