This issue introduces Fatman, the Human Flying Saucer. The character’s origin appears in the opening story “Introducing Fatman, the Human Flying Saucer” (11 pages), written by Otto Binder (credited as O. O. Binder) with art by C. C. Beck. In the story, Van Crawford gains the ability to transform into a flying saucer after encountering an alien.
Additional stories continue the adventures of Fatman, including “The Saucerer’s Science Sorcery,” “Anti-Man, Enemy of Mankind,” and “Fatman Meets Tinman!” The issue introduces several characters including Anti-Man and Tinman (Lucius Pindle). The book also includes a two-page Fatman centerfold pin-up by C. C. Beck, a letters page titled “Fatmanfan Speaks!,” and a one-page “Our Space Age” feature illustrated by Carl Pfeufer with text by Otto Binder discussing a reported UFO incident.
The remainder of the issue includes advertisements and promotional material typical of the period.
