Pre-Hero Marvel anthology featuring classic early Silver Age stories: “I Unleashed Shagg Upon the World!” (pencils by Jack Kirby, inks by Dick Ayers), in which an explorer awakens the Sphinx—revealed to be the robot warrior Shagg. “I Was Trapped in Horror House!” (art by Paul Reinman) follows a convict hiding from justice inside a haunted amusement park attraction. Steve Ditko illustrates “The Revenge of the Wooden Woman,” a supernatural pirate yarn where a sea captain’s beloved figurehead comes to life. The issue closes with “I Am the Beast-Man!” (art by Don Heck), about a Soviet spy who pretends to be a talking bear—only to find radiation has truly transformed him. 36 pages, full color.
