Kid Colt Outlaw #57 — VG- (3.5)

Thorpe & Porter / Strato Publications Ltd., United Kingdom, c.1959
68 pages · Western / Frontier · Black & white interior

Kid Colt Outlaw #57 is a late-period UK Thorpe & Porter edition drawing primarily from Kid Colt Outlaw (Marvel, 1949 series) #87 (November 1959). Produced during the final stretch of Thorpe & Porter’s Western reprint program, this issue reflects the increasingly hybrid nature of these magazine-format books, combining Marvel Western material with selected DC Western features for the British market.

The issue opens with a Jack Kirby–penciled Kid Colt cover, followed by multiple Kid Colt stories scripted by Stan Lee with art by Jack Keller. Additional content includes a Gunsmoke Kid story illustrated by Jack Davis, as well as Western material reprinted from DC’s Western Comics, Hopalong Cassidy, and All Star Western, featuring work by Gardner Fox, Carmine Infantino, Gil Kane, Bernard Baily, and others. The result is a dense cross-section of late-1950s American Western comics as they circulated internationally through UK reprints.

A historically interesting later-series Thorpe & Porter issue, notable for its Kirby cover and its blend of Marvel and DC Western material, appealing to collectors of UK reprints and late Atlas-era Western comics.

Maj. Picto’s Grading Notes:
VG- (3.5). Noticeable wear consistent with the grade, including handling and age-related wear typical of late-1950s UK reprint editions. Structurally sound overall with presentable appearance for its age.
