TOP TEN VAMPIRE Movies

🧛‍♂️ TOP TEN: Greatest Vampire Movies of All Time

A few weeks back we dropped our Top Ten Werewolf Movies, so it only felt right to keep the monster madness rolling. This time? We’re sinking our teeth into the greatest vampire movies ever made.

Let’s count it down…

#10 — 30 Days of Night (2007)

Based on the comic of the same name, this brutal modern vampire tale takes place in Alaska during the month when the sun doesn’t rise for 30 days. A horde of vampires realizes they won’t need to hide from daylight… and chaos follows. Dark, savage, and relentless — this one doesn’t sparkle.

#9 — Van Helsing (2004)

The only movie to make both our werewolf and vampire lists! Usually when there’s a vampire, a werewolf isn’t far behind.
Hugh Jackman brings full action-hero energy to this monster mash, and Dracula with his trio of vampiric brides? Pure over-the-top fun.

#8 — Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)

Francis Ford Coppola’s lush, operatic take on the classic tale.
Gary Oldman gives an unforgettable performance as the Count — giving Bela Lugosi a serious run for his money.
A young Keanu Reeves as Harker and the legendary Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing round out a stacked cast.

#7 — Nosferatu (1922)

The original vampire film. A silent-era nightmare that still feels unsettling today.
Max Schreck as Count Orlok is pure nightmare fuel — long fingers, sunken eyes, and one of the creepiest silhouettes in cinema history.

#6 — Dracula (1931)

It’s hard to have a vampire list without the one that truly launched them into pop culture immortality.
Bela Lugosi is Dracula.
Edward Van Sloan as Van Helsing and Dwight Frye as Renfield complete a haunting, iconic cast.

#5 — Fright Night (1985)

What happens when your new neighbor is a vampire? The 80s answered that with style.
Fantastic practical makeup effects and gloriously over-the-top transformations.
Chris Sarandon is slick and menacing, while Roddy McDowall steals scenes as late-night horror host Peter Vincent.

#4 — Horror of Dracula (1958)

Our first Hammer Horror entry — and probably not the last.
Christopher Lee as Dracula and Peter Cushing as Van Helsing are an absolute one-two punch. Hammer revived the classic monsters with bold color, intensity, and a bit more bite.

#3 — The Brides of Dracula (1960)

Peter Cushing returns as Van Helsing, facing off against a younger vampire played by David Peel. Not your traditional Dracula look — but a stylish, fun Hammer entry with some wild sequences.

#2 — The Lost Boys (1987)

Maybe Joel Schumacher’s best film.
Jason Patric, Corey Haim, and Kiefer Sutherland bring serious 80s vampire cool.
And let’s not forget Barnard Hughes as Grandpa — delivering some of the best one-liners in horror history.

#1 — Salem's Lot (1979)

From director Tobe Hooper, we get one of the best Stephen King adaptations ever put on screen.
David Soul shines as Ben Mears, and the dread builds relentlessly.

Fair warning: after watching this one, you may never want to sleep on the second floor again.

🩸 Final Thoughts

From silent-era nightmares to neon-lit 80s cool, vampires have evolved — but they never stop being compelling. Gothic, tragic, terrifying, stylish… the bloodsuckers have range.

What did we miss?
What’s too high?
What’s criminally underrated?

Sound off — we’re ready for the debate.
